Woooo, Comic con is fast approaching! And as my final convention of the summer season, it's freaking me out a little. LOL I don't know why I've been going to the stupid thing since 1994. =P Anyway this year I have my very own table to sell my work at, so I'm very excited about that.

I managed to get a "Small Press" table so I'll be selling my art, prints, and shirts. Also new for this year I'll have a 52 page, perfect bound, color art book of my weird animal art. The book looks so nice, I need to post up some pictures of it. I'm also going to have a new special T-shirt printed just for the con, but I have to wait to tell you guys about it until I make sure they'll be printed in time. =D

Anyway here is a map of where I'll be in the giant huge San Diego Convention center of Doom. My table is under the name "Diana Sprinkle" and is N-05 and I'll have a giant banner of my puking cat behind me. So hopefully I won't be too hard to miss. =P Stop on by and say hello!

I'm also going to have stuff in the art show. I'm so excited.

So I have Staple this weekend and that's going really well. It is also going to be open on Sunday this year which is awesome. It's in Austin Texas at the same venue that they had Blue Genie in. I like the comic crowd a lot they seem to want to read things and really like cats.

Then while trying to get some out of the closet and finally get some sleep I cut myself on some glass. Right on the back of my hand on my middle finger. Ugh! I had to wake up my mom to help me put some wound closure strips on it. Hopefully I can get people to help me move the stuff at the end of Staple into my car. I don't think I should be moving my hand much and of course it's the right hand. I think I can still draw and write... tests it out.

Looks like I can write but I have to hold my hand all weird. Not sure how drawing will go. Probably just really slow. =/

This sucks.

Whoa, I just slept all today away. I'm hoping that kills whatever stupid cold I've been having trouble with since this Monday the day after Ikkicon. I should be getting ready for Further Confusion in a week but instead I've been sleeping and coughing. I did manage to make a t-shirt design for the new shirt.woot contest derby thing. So at least that's something.

"A-mazing Catnap"

New design for the "Mazes and Labyrinths" derby on woot... The best sleep ever! I thought it'd be fun to try to make this cat's fur pattern a maze... man that turned out to be a pain. Mazes are really hard. =/ Give me a vote if you can I'm really close to the fog (ie. the top ten). =D

Wooooo, I'm going to get on a plane today for New York Comic Con. I have no idea what to expect and since it's just a con for me to wander around and relax I feel uneasy and weird. LOL, the last con I was going to go and relax at, Animefest, I didn't even manage to get to. Worries. Gah, and it's going to be cold there so I'll have to pack my tiny amount of warm clothing.

I should hopefully run into people I know and get to talk to them. Excitement!

I'll be staying out in New York for an extra week after the con since that was the cheapest plane ticket I could get and my friend out there was very nice to give me a place to stash myself for sleeping. I'm packing some of the manga I couldn't sell off in Texas to sell to a used bookstore in New York called "Book Off". I went to them in Japan when I visited and they do have them in the states. I can't dump this much Japanese manga at a normal used book store so I'm hoping that they'll buy back this stuff so I won't have it in my house.

I'll still be able to get to the internet out there so I should still randomly update.

I've been reading a bunch of manga on the internet. I read through all of "Initial D" and really like it. The scanlations stop at book 7 and someone scanned the Tokyopop versions of it up to book 15. They are horrible. Between the typewriter font for square boxed writing (which varies from a character's thoughts to machine specs of a car), to the characters saying things that are completely out of character, and the added American slang and names... I had a hard time with them.

Needless to say even if I wanted to pick up the English version of the series I probably would rather get them in Japanese and not know what was going on. =/ At least I could enjoy the art, as weird as that is on "Initial D" it's sort of an old school style though it's grown on me a lot.

I am amused that "Initial D" is 15 years old and 40 books long... but only a year of real time has passed in the manga. It's roughly 1996 in the manga but the artist has kind of waved their hands and just gone ahead and included some stuff, like tiny cell phones, that make me think it's not strictly 1996. The cars are really awesomely drawn in the book. I checked out some other street racing books and honestly the cars seem to be the tough point for a lot of artists. I didn't realize how good they looked until I compared it to others.

It's a fun series and I'm not big on street racing or cars honestly. But I really like the set up for the main character and enjoy that he's generally not a cocky asshole or the awesomely over talented beginner. LOL. The anime has much more even translation... at least subtitled. The dub for it is pretty bad though. And the races are a little easier to understand when you can see the cars moving instead of staring at still images.

Randomly they made a arcade game for "Initial D" where you could play the game in real cars on motion simulators. Which I thoughts was super neat.

Anyway I'm rambling. I thought I'd update you guys and what's happening before I leave. But I should get back to packing now. =D I hope to see some of you guys in New York.

Oh and these are the last few days of my shirt at woot. If you can, please give me a vote! I've been in the fog the whole derby again so I'm hoping I can manage to place with another shirt.

Continuing my streak of only letting you guys know where'll be appearing the day or two before the event. I'm going to be at Anime Overload all this weekend in Austin, Texas. Though instead of being in artists alley I'm going to be set up in the dealer's area selling not only my art but a large chunk of my manga/comics/book collection. Please come on by and check it out if you're in the area. I'm right behind Lah deh dah, the people who are selling wigs. I will have the new "Circle of Cute" Shirt and bunch of other things I have yet to post to my site because I have been busy and other lazy excuses like that. Hopefully my stuff will sell and my house will get a little less cluttered. =D

Oh my god. I'm covered in manga and comics. I've been clearing out my shelves tonight trying to figure out what I'm going to be selling at this small Austin anime convention this August. I bought a dealers table so I could sell off used manga and comics along with my normal artwork. And I don't think there's anyway I'll even have enough table space for all of this stuff. I've covered a bed in books and a chair in art books and I still have 2-3 large boxes on the floor and I haven't even touched the doujinshi stacked in the corner of my room. I've been collecting this stuff since before 1995 and was only able to sell some of it at A-kon before they made it so you couldn't sell this stuff in Artist Alley.

This is like a fire sale type situation. I already did like 3 runs to Half Price Books at the beginning of the year so it's slightly crazy to still have this much stuff. I'm really afraid of what will happen when I do clear a path to my comic collection. That stuff is getting sold away if possible.

I really need to just get rid of this stuff. I need more space and I've got to get a handle on my collecting because I've built up a lot of stuff. Is anyone looking for anything? New or old, lord knows I might have it.

I might put up a list or photograph the spines of this stuff. More likely I'll probably take the lazy path and just make some grab bags for the convention.

Also does anyone want Hello Kitty or random journals for cheap (like 3 for 8$)? I have a ton of them lying around empty because I love buying pretty/cute journals and I always THINK I'll write in them and to be honest I just don't. Sure here and there I start one or two but most of the time they are just in my room looking pretty and gathering dust.

I'm just covered in stuffffff. I'm not even going to go into my art supply pile. T_T

My birthday was last week and I forgot to mention it because I've been struggling to get ready for all of the conventions coming up soon. I'm not really prepared for the cons but I have so much new art that I think I mostly just need to make sure everything is printed up and ready. Though I could use a few more painted pieces like the Pancat and the House Mouse to go with all of the flat shirt colored art I now have.

Speaking of shirts I may have one of my designs up for sell in the next few weeks. I'm just waiting for conformation that it's going to be printed and what day it's going to go up.

Oh man, I have this super big blue and white cat stripe painting. And last week I finally set up a space in the garage to seal the thing and a huge thunderstorm rolls in and totally ruins it. Well some of it was my fault but I don't think I caused it to buckle and warp. I blame the heat and humidity. I sort of freaked out because that has never happened before with any of the other images. I was really upset and sad but I figured I'd just go ahead and keep putting the sealant on, it needs about 3-4 coats to really get everything covered right. It ends up with a nice glossy shine once everything dries and it looks amazing. So, I dishearteningly finish the sealing hoping that since it'll be under glass that no one will notice the rippling. I brought it inside 4 days ago and what do I see today? The damn thing isn't warped anymore. What? Was it playing a game on my emotions? Shakes fist at own painting!!!

I have no idea how to scan it. It's really large. I might do it in pieces that is if I want to hate myself.

My Convention Schedule for the summer is as follows:

A-kon: June 2-4th in Dallas. I have a table in the Komik Market and art in the Art Show.

Anthrocon: June 24-27 in Pittsburgh, PA. I'll have a table in the dealers room and art in the Art Show.

San Diego Comic Con: July 21-25 in San Diego. I'll be sharing a booth with my friends and will have art in the Art Show.

I'm going to be hitting some other smaller conventions in the Texas area after summer but I'm mostly excited to see how things go for these main three. Sales have been picking back up on my art in the last year so I'm hoping that this trend will continue to grow. Which reminds me I am the worst person about updating my site other then my weekly stabs at the derby. I'm hoping to fix that before A-kon with at least a new site theme. I need to overhaul the entire site but that might have to wait until after the convention season.

Just to liven up this journal! A piece of art I've been working on, Bunnies 4ever or Infinite bunnies. It's like my stripe cats only it's bunnies and it's not a stripe across the page. I sort of want to make a real painting of this but I'd need something to transfer the image onto the canvas/board. Hmm. Anyway! I'll post a finished computer colored version when I'm done.

I hope everyone is enjoying April Fools! I'm going to be heading out to Anime Matsuri in a few minutes but first I wanted to direct you guys to this neat thing that was posted before April first and is not a joke. =D

I'm one of the finalist in the draw Neil Gaiman's dog Cabal contest thingy. This is the image I sent.

If you want to look at the other finalist please go to the informal contest page here: http://kittysneverwear.blogspot.com/2010/03/oscar-recap-cabal-nominees.html I did this image on a lark, since I never draw dogs it was a real stretch for me, so I'm super pleased it has been picked.

Yay, and I'm out!
dxs: Comic (Balancing act)
Hello everyone! Feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment so I've let some stuff slip by for a bit. I'm going to a con at the beginning of April. YAY, last time I went to this con things didn't go so well but I have sooo much new stuff that I'm hoping it'll be great this time.

I'm going to be in the Artist Alley at Anime Matsuri this April 2-4th in Houston, Texas. Yay, this time I'm posting about the event more than a few days ahead of time. =D I'll have new prints and art for sale so please come by if you're in town.

I also have a shirt currently running in Shirt Woot's: Madness derby. It's a cat and a shadow with a moth!

I'm having one of those nights where I'm not sleeping. The brain is worried about life so I toss and turn. Nothing distinct that I can grasp, mostly I'm worried about comics. For some reason now that I want to go back to doing them, the brain thinks I want to make ALL of them right now, which freaks out the logical side of the brain. Rolls eyes.

The fact that Staple! The Independent Media Expo, is this Saturday isn't helping. Me and Shawnna are sharing a table at Staple so I really should be getting ready for it. I have a bunch of cute little stripe cat paintings (small ones, 2" x 3") made for the show. However no real way to display them... and the rest of my stock is sort of all over the place. I have time but the brain is freaking out.

So here are some of the little paintings I've been working on... I have no idea what to price these guys at. The x-ray one is 1.5 x 3 inches and all the others are 2 x 3 inches. They've be sealed so they are nice, glossy and most importantly durable.

I can make small prints of these little guys and of course the originals will be for sale... as soon as I figure out how much to charge.

This is only a small sampling of the paintings I've been doing. A little bit of Missmonster is creeping into these as I go along. I get bored and add some weird tongues to keep things interesting. I have about 14 of these small images and a few larger images I did as tests. I'm going to try and finish another batch of 7 today if I can. I'm starting to slip in bunnies as I go.

I hope all of you guys are getting sleep. I'm going to go paint a little.

New Threadless submission for their big 10th anniversary contest thingy. Please take a look and leave a comment.

I-SCREAM - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No More

I also finished a late entry for Shirt Woot's new derby things that start with the letter V. I couldn't do my horrible idea I had with the word 'vibrator' so I did this cutesy family friendly image instead. =]

V for Victory

In real news that isn't a T-shirt, I helped my friend Shawnna move into a new apartment. That was cool except that it lasted all the way until New Year's eve. Which sucked cause New Year's day was the start of Ikkicon where we were suppose to be selling stuff. We were so disorganized on the first day since we just couldn't find some of the con stuff in the rush of moving things. But thankfully we got everything fixed and the con went pretty smoothly. Ugh, it seems like there's so much to do.
dxs: Comic (Balancing act)
Yay, San Japan is over and I'm all recovered and rested. Both me and Shawnna sold pretty well so the con was a success for us. Which is good cause this is our first year braving a San Antonio convention and we had no idea what to expect.

We made the effort to get there and pick our table on Thursday, which was a new thing for us. I don't know if table check in needs to be quite so early, it started at 2PM but we got there in more then enough time to get an okay spot. Over all the attendees were really nice and well behaved and the con seemed very well planned out. The panels had microphones and the people running them were really good about time. I'm not sure I'm suited for public speaking or if I just need more work on it but I think the panel I did on furry art and writing went fairly well.

I loved the codes of conduct being posted up right next to the bathrooms. =>

Mostly I wished they'd turned up the air conditioning more because on Friday we were sweating our asses off. The small side rooms they had for the artist alley seemed to get hot very easily.

LOL, every time Shawnna would say "Today's going to be slow" business would totally pick up and prove her wrong. Our table neighbors were really great and friendly and everything went way more smoothly then some of the anime cons I've been to in the last few years. It helped that Shawnna's boyfriend Sterling was able to come and help us once he got off work on Friday. We were really struggling without him on Friday. We had some great roommates for our hotel room, Spizzy and her boyfriend stayed with us and we spent most of the con laughing about very weird sleep deprived stuff and making fun of our hotel room.

I'm very happy that Shawnna had a Tomtom cause even though I've driven around San Antonio a few times, the downtown area confuses the hell out of me. Got turned around more then once. The Tomtom is a life saver except for the times it would flip out and not know where we we're... LOL. Sadly overpasses and flyover confuse the hell out of it.

Also, I can't believe I have another con in less then a month. I have to plan these better, next up for me is Animefest in Dallas over labor day weekend. Me and Shawnna will have a table in the artist alley or what they call the Bizarre Bazaar that we will be set up in. Hopefully we'll be downstairs near the food and the dealers room but since tables are first come first serve I won't know until the actual con.

I have been working like crazy to get more things ready to sell and I have a lot of stuff I haven't posted about, which I'll be doing in a few days as I clear out all of my backlog and clean up around here. Rachael mentioned that when I posted about the T-shirt design on Teextile there was no vote button so here is the link again. Please vote if you want it.

A-kon was really good this year... which I'm posting as if it's news because even I didn't realize that I made close to 3 times what I made last year until I got home and checked the numbers. Woot, estimated tax money and health care! The laminated signs and extra larger weird cat prints really seemed to help draw people into the booth to get clobbered by both me and Shawnna's adorable buttons and art. My most popular piece of art for people to stare at and point friends to, was this image of the "Cat Puking Kittens" from the new Catalyst folio.

Buy this image as a print at my online store!

Speaking of the Catalyst folio, YAY! Oh my god, it printed soo nicely. I got the book from the printer and ran around the house showing it to both of my cats... they seemed to like sleeping on it. The paper is all smooth and glossy and the printing is very rich and sharp. I'm so happy with them. It's 16 pages of weird kitties doing odd things in a convenient 5.5" x 8.5" inch size. Look I offer photos!

It has a wrap around cover!

Meow World! A 4-page comic of adorable alien cats flying space ships in the shape of cat heads.

And here's a link where you can order this folio: Catalyst! Also there more photos and links to some of the cat images inside the folio. Um, it's weird!

In other news my iMac's hard drive exploded... freak death, it just stopped working and now it won't boot. Thankfully I'm totally covered by Apple Care so, woot, free hard drive. The only bad part is they're not sure they can save my important data from the dying drive. I have to cross my fingers and hope that I can backup most of the new My Muse comics, some of my prints/art, and hopefully my tax info for last year when I take it back in. Thankfully, I do most of my art work on my laptop. Which reminds me I really need to back up some data on that computer. Sigh. Well, at least I'm not paying for the repair.
