Woooo, Comic con is fast approaching! And as my final convention of the summer season, it's freaking me out a little. LOL I don't know why I've been going to the stupid thing since 1994. =P Anyway this year I have my very own table to sell my work at, so I'm very excited about that.

I managed to get a "Small Press" table so I'll be selling my art, prints, and shirts. Also new for this year I'll have a 52 page, perfect bound, color art book of my weird animal art. The book looks so nice, I need to post up some pictures of it. I'm also going to have a new special T-shirt printed just for the con, but I have to wait to tell you guys about it until I make sure they'll be printed in time. =D

Anyway here is a map of where I'll be in the giant huge San Diego Convention center of Doom. My table is under the name "Diana Sprinkle" and is N-05 and I'll have a giant banner of my puking cat behind me. So hopefully I won't be too hard to miss. =P Stop on by and say hello!

I'm also going to have stuff in the art show. I'm so excited.

Ha ha ha, I know I have 3 designs already in the running but I had a crash in Illustrator that lost me hours of work. So I blew off some steam making this one last entry. For Shirt Woot's Derby: Visual Puns.

Sweater Kittens!

I figure if people were okay with seamen on their chests then they'd have no problem showing off their sweater kittens. =]

I'm totally making more of these little kittens. OMG, cuddles them.

More stuff for Shirt Woot, this time the theme is Visual Puns. Which, apparently I like to do in my normal art... even though I hate them as jokes from friends.

So here is my designs.

Catacombs, they're cats that are combs. Also their little fur pattern has caves with crosses and graves in them.

Catacombs. An underground cemetery, esp. one consisting of tunnels and rooms with recesses dug out for coffins and tombs.

I need to make a version of the Catacombs that's a normal looking comb instead of these fancy vintage combs. I love these vintage combs!

Rugrats.

This is an idea that Shawnna gave me a few months ago that I'd been working on making into a actual painting. I had stalled on the image for awhile until this derby came up. I really happy I was able to finish this version for Woot and hopefully I can finally do the same for the painting.

I also made this cute Pocketbook shirt design. I want a book on my shirt! It's the part of the shirt that you read. =D

You can vote for it on Shirt Woot if you've bought a shirt from them. Still, I thought it'd be nice to show you guys the final version. =D

Reminder! My Threadless design is still up for voting!

Cute Has a Flavor - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No More

So, the Halloween derby has started and after a frustrating two hours trying to upload my designs to Shirt Woot I now have 2 designs currently up in the running. I adjusted one of my images of Doubt and his shadow so that the coloring went from a cool blue to a nice blood red.

And I did some adorable pumpkins carving themselves new faces to go out laying on porches in wait. I was particularly happy with the ice cream scoop.

I have a few other ideas that I feel motivated to do. Which I might do here in the next few days. This derby seems considerably tougher this time around. I lot of people saved up cool Halloween art. I almost always lack the drive to finish art for holidays and Halloween is a favorite of mine so hopefully I can do a couple more pieces.

Which reminds me I need to get a Halloween costume together.

Gah, kind of frustrated this week. I keep forgetting one of the problems with shirt contests is the whole "watched pot" effect. I keep refreshing the pages hoping votes will just happen and I have to stop doing that. Obsessing just a little much. This week I got all inspired and finished two designs for the current Shirt Woot Derby: Cooking.

First I did a lady on fire cooking up some delicious soul food using real souls no less.

Vote Soul Food.

And then I thought it might be cool if your shirt had an oven window on it. So, I made this cute cartoony heart burn image.

Vote Heart Burn.

As with the other derby from last week you can vote for my submissions if you've ever bought something from Shirt Woot. Otherwise please enjoy the images and let me know what you think.

I got a 112 vote for my last design so I'm hoping one of these new ones images can do better then that. That is if Shirt Woot's servers manage to stay up, they've been sort of messed up since Friday. =D

I made a cute bee image for Shirt Woot's T-shirt Derby #113: Harvest. They're harvesting flowers for their giant fat queen bee.

You can vote for it on Shirt Woot if you've bought a shirt from them. Still, I thought it'd be nice to show you guys the final version. =D

So for Halloween I decided to make a shirt design for the "Design By Human" Halloween contest. I wasn't unable to choose between two designs so I just went ahead and finished them both. I really need to stop procrastinating so much as I ran rather close to the deadline...

I ended up liking the one with the girls more then I thought, the apple one is a favorite of mine. If you like either of these please vote. Vote Apple! Vote Girls! Ha! That seems cuter then it should. =D

I've been drawing a bit here and there but I seem to have some sort of had a con crash after AnimeFest. So, mostly I've been sleeping, cleaning, and seeing friends but not working. I did managed to put in an application for a juried art show thing... but I have to wait and see if I get in.

My goal for this week and next week (for my purpose the rest of this month) is to do about 5 images a week. I'm already behind by a day. I've been working with little paintings on wood much like the Fat Bee picture I did. It's weird that I have no stamia for actual media at all. I'll make all of these really complex things on paper but when I go to draw them on the wood I'll shy away from complex and stick to simple and cute. I think I'm willing to spend the time on digital work cause I know what I can do it but it's been so long since I've really worked on actual media that I get easily discouraged. If I can't finish the image in a day I usually won't finish it for a long time.

I'm fighting this malaise about art in general. I really have to have a set of goals for me to motivate on the things I need to do. I like setting goals... I'm just not good at meeting them. I was really good when I had to finish things FOR conventions or else they wouldn't get made in time. I managed to do the Catalyst folio by thinking and planning ahead. Even so I feel maybe I got burn out a bit. I'm not even sure where that feeling comes from, the burning out bit, it's like my energy goes away and it's really hard to get it back. Maybe I need to go on walks a bit more or swim in a pool. Movement of some sort makes me feel a little better. I could always obsessively clean my room. Which mostly involves taking books to Half Price Books or recycling as much as possible. I think I'm just trying to let go of some of the crap I've accumulated over the years. I can't even get to my comic collection but I think a bunch of stuff would go away if I could.

I think I've finally had enough of owning stuff I don't look at or use. >_

This one I put up at Design By Humans because they seem slightly more friendly to a shirt with mostly text. I also like that Design by Humans lets you do front and back shirt prints and you can use a lot of colors... not that THIS design takes advantage of any of that. This one's really simple to make up for all the complex one's I still have to finish. Please vote if you like this.

Yay, San Japan is over and I'm all recovered and rested. Both me and Shawnna sold pretty well so the con was a success for us. Which is good cause this is our first year braving a San Antonio convention and we had no idea what to expect.

We made the effort to get there and pick our table on Thursday, which was a new thing for us. I don't know if table check in needs to be quite so early, it started at 2PM but we got there in more then enough time to get an okay spot. Over all the attendees were really nice and well behaved and the con seemed very well planned out. The panels had microphones and the people running them were really good about time. I'm not sure I'm suited for public speaking or if I just need more work on it but I think the panel I did on furry art and writing went fairly well.

I loved the codes of conduct being posted up right next to the bathrooms. =>

Mostly I wished they'd turned up the air conditioning more because on Friday we were sweating our asses off. The small side rooms they had for the artist alley seemed to get hot very easily.

LOL, every time Shawnna would say "Today's going to be slow" business would totally pick up and prove her wrong. Our table neighbors were really great and friendly and everything went way more smoothly then some of the anime cons I've been to in the last few years. It helped that Shawnna's boyfriend Sterling was able to come and help us once he got off work on Friday. We were really struggling without him on Friday. We had some great roommates for our hotel room, Spizzy and her boyfriend stayed with us and we spent most of the con laughing about very weird sleep deprived stuff and making fun of our hotel room.

I'm very happy that Shawnna had a Tomtom cause even though I've driven around San Antonio a few times, the downtown area confuses the hell out of me. Got turned around more then once. The Tomtom is a life saver except for the times it would flip out and not know where we we're... LOL. Sadly overpasses and flyover confuse the hell out of it.

Also, I can't believe I have another con in less then a month. I have to plan these better, next up for me is Animefest in Dallas over labor day weekend. Me and Shawnna will have a table in the artist alley or what they call the Bizarre Bazaar that we will be set up in. Hopefully we'll be downstairs near the food and the dealers room but since tables are first come first serve I won't know until the actual con.

I have been working like crazy to get more things ready to sell and I have a lot of stuff I haven't posted about, which I'll be doing in a few days as I clear out all of my backlog and clean up around here. Rachael mentioned that when I posted about the T-shirt design on Teextile there was no vote button so here is the link again. Please vote if you want it.

More pages can be found here!

I will make comics!

Wooot vote for My Muse at Top Comics. Voting spiel!

Also I have put up a t-shirt design on Teextile for voting, check it out:
